YOUTH DEVELOPMENT
Youth Leadership Development
Target Group:
- School: Members of the Representative Council of Learners
- Out of School Youth
This programme will help you to:
- understand aspects related to youth development;
- understand the Role and Task of community youth issues;
- develop mechanisms to support youth and youth leaders in a blended context
- Develop skills to support young leaders in communities to come up with innovative ideas and community projects that will enhance their leadership and entrepreneurial skills whilst participating in their leadership role endeavours in their community.
- Practical intervention of youth community programs to ensure impact in their context – PoE
Module 1 Coursework, with three units
- Unit 1 Leadership Development of youth in communities
[This unit defines youth leadership, needs of young people and examines aspects related to youth development] - Unit 2 Youth Leadership Involvement
[This unit discusses the significance of youth participation, contribution in the advancement of society, and their roles and responsibilities in promoting acceptable practices and wellbeing] - Unit 3 Youth Leadership initiatives – support, guidance and counselling young people[This unit provides you with valuable information regarding youth leadership initiatives and support, guidance and counselling]
Module 2 Project participation
- Unit 4 Practical involvement in Projects
[This unit outlines the practical intervention of youth community programmes (ideas/ problems committed into problem solving/ entrepreneurial initiative)]
- Unit 5 Basic Implementation, Monitoring, intervention and review of Project Management
[This unit sketches basic project management principles for participants to oversee their projects to completion and evaluate them]
Programme For RCL (4th Industrial Revolution Skills)
- In this programme the goal is to provide RCL leaders with the skills and tools to undertake projects that will give them an opportunity to learn and apply some of the skills above.
- They will need to initiate and manage a project that will address key challenge/challenges in their school. It must contribute to supporting a better teaching and learning environment.
- Undertake some research/critical analyse issues at school
- Make decisions and Lead
- Creatively design an intervention/support project
- Work and collaborate with others
- Apply emotional intelligence
- Make presentations and communicate your plans
- Manage self and others
- Serve their school and fellow learners/community
- Network and negotiate
- Manage a project from beginning to end and celebrate the results.
- Document and collate a Portfolio of evidence.
- Use multi-media
